Collegiate Church Planting Initiative
The Summit Network is launching a new strategy for reaching college campuses and raising up future generations of leaders and church planters.
The core of this strategy is to plant Collegiate-Focused Churches that have leadership pipelines built-in from the very beginning. By building pipelines that could take someone from lost student to church planter, we believe that we can exponentially multiply sending, both to North America and the nations.
A Collegiate-Focused Church (CFC) is a multi-generational church that strategically focuses on reaching the campus as part of its vision and strategy. A CFC:
- Considers the college campus its responsibility (vision)
- Plants with strategic college staff and a multiplication pipeline from the beginning (strategy)
Our goal is to plant 12 collegiate-focused churches in college towns over the next 12 years.
In 2018, we’ll send our first team to plant at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. We will plant one new CFC out of the Summit Network every year, with the goal that each of those CFCs will plant another church within 3 years. Simultaneously, we will develop a model by which existing and new plants can become CFCs. With just 12 new plants, we will see at least 40 new churches started in 12 years.
