church-revitalizationOver the last few years we’ve had the privilege to participate in a handful of church revitalizations, mergers, and replants. Awaken Church is a relaunch of a few-year-old plant in Columbia, SC. Mercy Hill Church merged with two existing churches in Greensboro, NC. We planted a church in Baltimore which merged with an 150-year-old congregation to form Jesus Our Redeemer. And we’re currently helping revitalize a church in Brooklyn, NY.

Church revitalization also happens the story of our founding church, the Summit Church in Raleigh-Durham, NC. So we’ve known for a while we would eventually get more involved in church revitalization. The need is undeniable. In most denominations like mine, 75% of churches are plateaued or declining. Over 3700 churches close every year. Those churches represent people and stories that God wants to continue to use for his mission.

For that reason we’re excited to share that this fall, we’ll be adding Church Revitalization to our Leadership Residency! At least 1 or 2 of our residents for 2016-17 will be pursuing church revitalization.

Maybe your church is a candidate for a revitalization or restart? We are looking for partner churches in mid-sized cities in the Southeast. If that describes your situation, we’d love to connect. We are working in partnership with the North American Mission Board. To connect with their Replant Team, go HERE.
